O primeiro duelo de 2024 entre Alison dos Santos e Karsten Warholm nos 400m com barreiras aconteceu nesta quinta-feira (30). Os dois se enfrentaram na etapa de Oslo da Diamond League. O brasileiro levou a melhor e venceu a prova, com Warholm na segunda colocação, com direito ao melhor tempo do ano no mundo para Piu.

Na corrida mais esperada desta quinta em Oslo, Karsten Warholm começou melhor, ultrapassando as barreiras na frente nos primeiros 200m da corrida. Mas, na metade da prova, Alison dos Santos começou a se aproximar do norueguês. Os dois entraram na reta final praticamente juntos, com Piu ultrapassando Warholm nos últimos metros para ficar com a vitória em 46s63, contra 46s70 do noruguês.

“Me sinto bem, eu amei essa pista, o público e a energia. Foi uma corrida difícil, mas que queria mostrar que eu estava aqui, em boa forma, e que consigo ser mais rápido ainda. Eu fui animado para essa prova e agora estou animado para a próxima, para ver o que posso fazer”, disse o atleta após a prova, se referindo à etapa de Estocolmo da Diamond League na semana que vem. “A pista estava um pouco molhada, mas era igual para todo o mundo. Só tinha que manter na minha cabeça que eu queria vencer. Vai ser uma prova incrível em Paris-2024. Estou muito animado para o que eu posso fazer lá. Tudo antes de Paris é apenas uma preparação. A única coisa que eu posso dizer é: assistam”, completou Piu.

Com o resultado da prova, Alison dos Santos está em primeiro lugar na “corrida do diamante”, o ranking da temporada que define os classificados para a final da Diamond League que acontece em setembro na Bélgica. Alisson tem 16 pontos, empatado com o norte-americano CJ Allen, que conta uma prova a mais do que Piu.

The first duel of 2024 between Alison dos Santos and Karsten Warholm in the 400m hurdles took place this Thursday (30). The two faced each other in the Oslo stage of the Diamond League. The Brazilian got the better of it and won the race, with Warholm in second place, giving Piu the best time of the year in the world.

In this Thursday's most anticipated race in Oslo, Karsten Warholm started better, overcoming the barriers at the front in the first 200m of the race. But, halfway through the race, Alison dos Santos started to get closer to the Norwegian. The two entered the final stretch practically together, with Piu overtaking Warholm in the last meters to take victory in 46.63, compared to the Norwegian's 46.70.

“I feel good, I loved this track, the crowd and the energy. It was a difficult race, but I wanted to show that I was here, in good shape, and that I can be even faster. I was excited for this race and now I'm excited for the next one, to see what I can do”, said the athlete after the race, referring to the Stockholm stage of the Diamond League next week. “The track was a little wet, but it was the same for everyone. I just had to keep in my head that I wanted to win. It will be an incredible race in Paris-2024. I'm really excited for what I can do there. Everything before Paris is just preparation. The only thing I can say is: watch it”, added Piu.

With the result of the race, Alison dos Santos is in first place in the “diamond race”, the season ranking that defines those classified for the final of the Diamond League that will take place in September in Belgium. Alisson has 16 points, tied with the American CJ Allen, who has one more race than Piu.
