Norway's Karsten Warholm edged Team USA's Rai Benjamin for the gold medal as he broke his own world record, posting a blistering time of 45.94 seconds. Benjamin, for his part, actually broke Warholm's old record, too, completing his race in 46.17 seconds.
The narrow race between rivals represented the best of sports and produced some indelible images. Warholm was shocked to see his time and then he ripped his singlet open in excitement.
Benjamin was in disbelief, as he had ran the race faster than anyone else had before but still finished with a silver medal. Brazil's Alison dos Santos earned the bronze medal – and he was pretty pumped about it.
