Men's 400m hurdle world record holder Karsten Warholm has arrived in Xiamen and is set to compete in the men's 300 meters hurdles, which will be a new event for the meet.

This is the first time that Warholm will compete in Xiamen, and the Norwegian arrived a week early to prepare. The Xiamen stop will be the first to host the 300 meters hurdles formally at international level. Warholm already holds the world record for this event, setting a time of 33.26 seconds in June 2021. World Athletics announced in March that the 300 meters hurdles will become a formal competition, and 9 athletes are set to take part at the first stop of the Diamond League series. Warholm broke the men's 400 meters hurdle world record in a time of 45.94 seconds at the Tokyo Olympics and is looks to take center stage once again.
