The cheering crowd at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise got treated to the excitement of the Men's 400m event. The event took place at 19:54 (Local Time) under negligible wind conditions, and it featured eight competitors, six of them Tokyo Olympians, including two Olympic Finalists in the Men's 400m: Isaac Makwala (Botswana), and Liemarvin Bonevacia (Netherlands), and also the Olympic Champion in the Men's 400m Hurdles Karsten Warholm (Norway), and a member of the 4x400 Olympic Gold Medalist Team Vernon Norwood (USA).

Wilbert London, a High School Prodigy, and a native of Waco, Texas, USA got the best of the rest, crossing the finish line first in a time of 45.17s, a time increase of 1.574% with respect to his Personal Best of 44.47s (achieved in 2017).
