The 2022 European Athletics Championships were full of tight finishes, and the men's 800m final was no different.

Spain's Mariano Garcia won gold with a personal best 1:44.85, just 0.6s ahead of Jake Wightman who took silver with a season's best 1:44.91.

It was a phenomenal race and enthralling finish, with Ireland's Mark English just a further 0.28s behind as he claimed bronze with a time of 1:45.19.
