The Men’s Long Jump event got underway at 20:50 (local time) at Le Stade Louis II in Monaco. The Temperature was 28°C (82°F). The stadium is located at Sea Level on the shore of the Mediterranean Coast.
The Broadcast Version of the event focused on the 3 athletes that disputed the competition, and Kevin Mayer (France) a Highly Decorated Decathlete. All four were Tokyo-Bound. How it Unfolded:
The World Champion Tajay Gayle (Jamaica) had the best Mark of the Entire Competition during the opening rounds.
In the new Diamond League Competition format (as of 2021) the athletes compete in Five Preliminary Rounds, with the intention of achieving the best mark that would qualify them to the Final 3 Round. So, it's a Winner Takes All Format.
Final 3 Qualifying:
Tajay Gayle (Jamaica) qualified as First Placed.
Thobias Montler (Sweden) qualified as Second Placed.
Tentoglou Miltiadis (Greece) qualified as Third Placed.
In the Final 3 Round, the athletes go in reverse order, with the athlete who qualified first jumping last, and with the advantage of knowing the marks of the first 2 competitors.
Final 3 Results:
The Swedish Champion Montler (Sweden), and the World Champ Gayle (Jamaica) missed the board, so they got an NM (No Mark).
The Greek Champion Miltiadis Tentoglou leaped for his best Mark in the Final 3 Round, so, he wins the Competition.
