Who Will Be CROWNED Female Super Athlete 2023 | Could it be Shelly, Dina, Shericka, Abby Or Elaine?
We are poised to witness some of the world fastest races in history in the women’s 100/200/400m sprints. We are at the threat hold of a golden era of women's sprinting. The fever pitch excitement is building for the 2023 outdoor season to fully begin. ALSO in August this year I'm expecting some historically fast races to happen again between some of the world’s best athletes like Shericka Jackson, Abby Steiner, Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, Elaine Thompson Herah, Dina Asher- Smith. This also would be my top 5 female athletes for 2023. Now let’s get right into breaking down my top 5 and why I choose them but stuck around for my number one pick that I think will out shine them all.
World record hold in the 100m Elaine Thompson Herah is looking to bounce back this year with some impressive times both in the 100-200m. We would all remember last year season was counterproductive for the global star. The split with her one time coach Stephen Francis and injury all impacted her 2022 season but she is looking sharp this season already also she announced that she is injury free and fit. If Elaine Thompson gets off to a good start we know that she is capable of defeating the very best in the world. I am predicting for her to run in the 21.60’s in the 200m and 10.60’s in the 100m.
Shericka Jackson had the best year of her career in 2022 winning the silver medal in the 100 meters and the gold medal in the 200 M at the world championship in a time of 21.45 seconds then went on to PR in 100 meters with a time of 10.71 seconds. Jackson may also attempt the 400m this season but its left to her and the coach in making such a decision but as it stands, I see her running low 21.50’s and 10.60’s in the 100m but with Shericka, she possess the ability to prove this prediction wrong by running a world records again in 2023.
The American Abby Steiner announced herself as a world class Sprinter in 2022 Up from college level to the professional stage, she won the 200 meters at the US championship, however it will be interesting to see how she handles the transition in starting her first season as a professional. It was also noted that she ran a total of 57 races in 2022. Steiner will be focusing more on the longer Sprint than the shorter Sprints this season so I'm not sure yet if she will compete in the 100 m come championship 2023 but we will still have to see if she can put together her best performance on the world stage seeing that she has only competed on home soil. I am predicting that Steiner will run in the 21.70’s in the 200m and low 10.70’s in the 100m this session.
Last season Dina Asher Smith had planned to take on the world, the Commonwealth and Europe championships in a whirlwind six weeks. But then life, off the track got in the way. First she lost her beloved grandmother weeks before the world championships. Then she suffered a hamstring injury in the 4x100m relay in Eugene that forced her to miss the Commonwealth Games. To make matters worse, she pulled up with crippling cramps in the 100m final at the European championships in Munich. However she has already started the season on a high note by registering two British records in the 60m already. I am predicting that she will PB in the 100-200m at the world championships.
Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce is my last and final candidate and she needs no introduction other than she will be the woman to beat this season without a doubt. She is the five times world champion Jamaica’s most decorated female athlete winning Olympic medals, world championships and commonwealth medals. Shelly however hasn’t made an appearance yet as of me writing the script. Shelly Ann Fraser plans this session is to break the world records of 10.49 seconds in the 100m. Last session she consistently runs 10.60’s seconds. Question is what she will produce this season.
The summery of my predictions is this, anyone of these star athletes can ascend to the top position because they have the talent to do so. It will be interesting to see their approach in the first couple of races outdoors. This will give us an indication of what to expect in 2023 season. I also think Shelly Ann Fraser will be the front runner leading and setting pace.
